HORTUS is a privately published quarterly journal which addresses itself to intelligent and lively-minded gardeners throughout the English-speaking world.
The beautifully printed and bound issues, each of 112 pages, contain articles on gardens, plants, people and books; history design and ornament.
There are conversations with the great figures of present-day horticulture, essays, notes and thorough reviews of new and reissued books. |

The quarterly journal Hortus is an excellent place for mind-gardening... (It) certainly celebrates Great Gardens - i.e., large, lavish, historic places that most of us can only read about - but this is tempered with a wide appreciation for the many people who work in them... The whole is elegantly laid out, edited and presented, and to produce such a thoughtful, engaging and beautiful magazine for thirty-three years with the same small team is frankly a wonder like the blue Himalayan poppy celebrated in its pages.
